My parents have this one crooked leaning tree in the very middle of their front yard. It looks like something Dr. Seuss could have dreamed up and we have all come to love this tree. Every year, usually around this time, this strange pair of ducks would fly in and sit in this tree and only this tree. My parents always called them “Tree Ducks.” We always anticipated their arrival because they were such cute and comical little creatures. My husband had never seen them until this past year and being the knowledgeable man he is, we had to google our little Tree Ducks. Turns out that they have many names like Mexican Tree Ducks and Whistling Ducks, but their real name is Black Bellied Whistling Ducks. It also turns out that they choose lifelong partners, which makes it even more adorable that a pair came to congratulate Shannon and TJ on their wedding day!
It was the sweetest wedding at Oak Tree Manor with some love birds and trees incorporated into their wedding. Maybe this is why the Tree Ducks thought that they were invited? Who knows. Shannon was such a radiant bride.
They married beneath the winding branches of Oak Tree Manor’s two hundred year old Live Oak. Our ears were delighted with tunes from a String Quartet. It was truly an enchanting ceremony.
They treated their guests to delicious cake, dinner and dancing. You can see there was no shortage of dancing at this celebration! Their guests also had a blast in the Swanky Photo booth. More than a few of their guests donned the Firefighter helmet in the Photobooth as an ode to TJ!
My very favorite detail of their wedding was their cake and cake topper! So precious. The little love birds atop the cake were so cute, but with a Firefighter’s helmet added for TJ, it took their cuteness to the next level. And their Cake Stand? It is all just perfection! Shannon didn’t let TJ’s passion get swept under the rug by any means because his groom’s cake was a helmet modeled after TJ’s helmet sitting on top of a firefighter’s hose.
As if Shannon hadn’t already received the “Best New Wife of The Year Award,” she surprised TJ with a firetruck for their Grand Exit. Of course this wasn’t just any old firetruck. We all know our Shannon wouldn’t have anything other than the very best for her Groom! This happened to be a New York Fire Department truck served during 9/11! Such a memorable and truly unique exit. We are so happy for this sweet couple and wish them the very best in their marriage!
