Happy new year to all of our friends and family. We’re two weeks in to 2015 and it’s already shaping up to be a spectacular year. But before we’re too entrenched in ’15, I wanted to reminisce a bit.
Where to start?!?!?! We recently learned that we’ve won Wedding Wire’s Couple’s Choice award as well as The Knots Best of Weddings! 2014 found us traveling for several weddings, which was a lot of fun. After one of our Style Me Pretty weddings was published, we were approached by Brides magazine and Max Mara for commercial use of the images – PLUS, the wedding ended up published in Australia’s Modern Wedding magazine as well as their online blog. Who would have thought that our little Galveston beach wedding would be seen around the world?!?!?! Early in the year, we were contacted by celebrity wedding planner, David Tutera – it was definitely a surprising email to receive first thing in the morning, before coffee! David works very closely with the Make-A-Wish foundation – a charity near and dear to his heart. We were asked to provide photography and paparazzi for Faith, a 9-year-old cancer survivor. Working with amazing vendors, we were able to give our girl an incredible party. You can read a little more about it HERE. It was one of the most humbling experiences of the year and we were so deeply honored to be invited.
That’s really the best part of being a photographer – we get to share these special experiences with our clients. And while I know we capture some awesome, even iconic images at our couples’ weddings, it’s the little moments that make it all worthwhile – the hugs, the tears, the laughter, the sweet glances and proud looks – we are lucky enough to participate in that moment and capture it for eternity. I think it’s what we do best. It may not be Pinterest-worthy or even that interesting to a viewer not close to the subject. For us, though, it makes us so happy (and incredibly humbled and honored) to share these real moments of joy with our clients, or should I say, friends.
With that said, here are a few of those little moments from some of our 2014 weddings – we’re looking forward to capturing and sharing even more in 2015. Happy new year, y’all! Lisa
